some elite areas at the end of games are very hard to do with H/H. these include the deep, urgoz, and the domain of anguish quest (mallyx the unyielding).

As far as salvgaging goes, only salvage things that are useful. Perfect mods shud usually be salvaged. Sundering (20%), fortitude(+30hp),forget me not(20%),aptitude not attitude(20%) and I have the power! (+5 energy) should almost always be salvaged.

have a look on the forums for each class and this will give you the guide on what you can do or cannot.

As far as salvaging this is dependant on long you have been playing. If you dont have a lot of cash at moment pick up everything thats dropped and sell it on.

A Proficies made char will not make gold quicker than a char from say Factions

as proficies drop collecet rate is slower and has less revenue.

ITS hard to summerise but as you have trilogy head over to other campaigns with any proficies char for quicker gold/salvage return.

JUst take your time there is no need to get this or that right away as max armour is max...so a max one costing 7k is the same stats as one costing 200k.

Well, in theory you can solo anything with heroes and henchmen once you have the skills and a good setup on your heroes. In practice, you will need to read up on the missions and some of the quests on the wiki. It can be fairly tough, especially the last missions in any chapter. Good to do that, because you will become very competent.

Any class? Most important is a class you will enjoy playing. Suggestions for first class would be Warrior if you like to be melee, or Ranger if you like to attack from a distance.

Use an ID kit. If there is a rune on armor, it might be worth some gold. Then again it might not. Check the prices for various runes at a rune dealer. Same with inks, some are worth a lot, some are not. Mostly it is just experience.

Nightfall is good to start with, because you will get your heroes.

Almost eveything in GW can be completed with Heroes / Henchmen.

For a new player, salvaging armor pieces that drop from enemies is a very good idea. You'll get materials that you'll need to upgrade your armor as you progress through the game. If there's a rune and/or insiginia attached, use an expert salvage kit to salvage them, even if it's a rune that's not for your profession since you can apply it to your heroes' (Nightfall) armor.

Edit: Yes, you can take any character you create to any of the 3 campaigns once you get far enough along the story-line. In Prophecies, for example, you have to reach Lion's Arch where there are quests available to take you to Nightfall and factions.

Yes, you'll have to do this quest ---> http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Sunspears_in_Cantha

You can make a character in any campaign and get them to either one you want with doing a simple quest.
And if you dont want to play that particular campaign up until the quest, just get a run to the outpost its in...which in this case is Kaineng City.

Also, yeah its possible to do just about everything with heroes and henchies. My first time through Nightfall and Eye of the North, I used nothing but heroes and henchmen...and I was pretty new so they didnt have any special builds or weapons lol so it is possible. May get a little tough towards the end though, so getting a decent group together wouldnt be a bad idea

With the right skills, everything can be done h/h, though I'm not so sure about elite areas.

Sell everything to merchant after identifying it, only id things above requires 10, or have a name colour other than white. Salvage armor pieces that you get if they have around 40 armor, and make sure you think you'll get the right materials from it. (cloth for cloth, leather for leather, steel for iron/leather)

The elite areas are The Fissure of Woe (FoW), The Underworld (UW), Urgoz's Warren (Urgoz), The Deep (Deep) and Domain of Anguish (DoA).
You can read the requirements you need to enter each on Wiki, as well as quests, etc.
The first two are linked to the Prophecies campaign (though they can be entered from the other campaigns as well), the two next are from the Factions campaign and the last is from the Nightfall campaign
I would not recommend trying to enter either of these areas until you have acquainted yourself throughly with the game.

Elite areas are just terms used to describe "difficult to do stuff" that people play that offer really valuable rewards. It is all optional stuff, that you probablly won't even consider doing until you've gotten at least 50-100 hours into the game. You can beat the entire game's storyline with heroes and henchmen.

Pretty much everything that has been said before. With the right builds, you can solo anything in this game. It was designed for solo play, but also encourages team play in some areas. Hence the reason for heroes and henchies. Take some time to learn your builds and such and find a good setup. Some missions it helps to have an extra helping hand (ex. Eternal Grove) to get through it easier, but most can be done solo.

As for salvage, me personally, I salvage everything. Sure I don't have the fast cash from selling everything, but I have an over abundance of materials. So when it comes to making anything, I know I have the mats. Only things I don't salvage are improved sale value golds, and golds in general. Everything else is materials to me.
